Construction company relies on ESTA extraction for smoke-free hall air
With the completion of the new workshop last year, the construction company Kurt Motz, which was founded in 1959 and specialises in building construction, civil engineering and road construction, is continuing to grow. The company from Illertissen in Bavaria left nothing to chance when it came to occupational safety for the new 1,200 square metre metalworking shop. Construction elements and machines, bored piles and sheet piling are processed in the hall, often involving welding. There is also cutting work to be done, and parts have to be derusted and concrete residues ground off time and again.
Air pollution control is a top priority to ensure that the dust and fumes produced do not affect the health of employees. This is why Alois Reindle, site manager and responsible for work preparation and scheduling at Kurt Motz, took care of this essential point even before the start of construction in summer 2023. As he had already had good experiences with an older generation ESTA filter tower, he enquired again with the regionally based specialist for extraction technology. With success: ‘The decision to equip our new hall with two filter towers from ESTA proved to be exactly right to ensure good and stable air quality throughout the hall,’ explained Reindle two months after commissioning the extraction concept.
Point extraction systems and hall ventilation perfectly coordinated
In Germany, for example, spatial ventilation methods such as the filter towers used at Kurt Motz are no longer permitted as the sole protective measure for manual welding. According to the legal provisions of TRGS 528, spot extraction is also necessary. ESTA therefore installed two mobile welding fume filters with IFA test certificate W3 of the SRF K-series for spot fume extraction for the two stainless steel welding workstations at the same time.
