Operational environmental management: ESTA is ISO 14001 certified

With the introduction of the internationally recognised environmental management system according to ISO 14001:2015, ESTA is setting an example in terms of the environment and sustainability.

It's been official since the end of May: the certification body of TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH has certified that ESTA meets all the requirements of the environmental management standard ISO 14001:2015. With the introduction of the environmental management system, the family-owned company is making visible its commitment to sustainable business practices. The certificate is based on three aspects: compliance with legislation and guidelines, management of environmental risks and continuous improvement of environmental performance in terms of emissions, waste generation and energy consumption.

"We are proud that ESTA has now also received the environmental management standard ISO 14001:2015 in addition to the existing quality management standard ISO 9001:2015. Our goal is to minimise our ecological footprint and thus make a positive contribution to environmental protection," said Regina Kulitz, initiator of the project, who, as Environmental Management Officer, accompanied the audits on the part of ESTA, and was the first to hold the certificate in her hands.

In accordance with its environmental guidelines, the extraction technology company continually invests in the development of resource-saving products and is involved in numerous environmental initiatives. Almost all administration and production areas have already been converted to modern LED technology. The ESTA sales and assembly centre uses the most advanced technologies, and among other things, has heat pumps and photovoltaic systems in operation. In 2007, this was recognised with the "German Solar Prize". The company’s employees, too, cultivate a conscious use of natural resources and materials. The internal guidelines also define regulations for waste reduction and avoidance, among other matters. In addition, regular employee training courses are held. “We take our trainees on board as well, right from the start. Every year they support the reforestation of our company forest near Ulm-Erbach. As part of an upcycling project, we recently repaired aging bicycles and made them roadworthy again for short business errands”, is how Kulitz summarised the commitment of the junior staff. She made it clear: "Despite the very high environmental standards that we have implemented in our company processes, we are striving now, and in the future, to make further improvements and optimisations. Because a lot of small changes can ultimately make a big difference!”
